“I never want anyone to feel like “just” anything, especially “just” an artist. No matter what you make, someone out there deserves (and wants!) to see it.”

The Story Behind “Made By Her”

Hi! My name is Tiffany and I’m the founder of Made By Her, Inc.

I’ve always been a creative soul. When I was really little, I loved to draw and paint. In high school, when I’d get bored in class, I’d not just doodle in my notebook, but draw mandalas like bracelets around my wrists (you could always tell how interested I was in the subject by how high up the drawings went.)

I’ve also always been a hard worker. Since I was allowed to get my worker’s permit at 16, I’ve always had a job connecting people with what they loved, first as a waitress, then as a leasing consultant leasing apartments.

When I got married and my husband and I had our first child, we decided I would stay home. At first I was thrilled, but it didn’t take long for me to start biting my nails wanting to either create something or work with people again. We moved into a fixer-upper home which took up a lot of my focus but I still felt like I was missing something.

Mixed in with some “easy DIY bathroom makeover ideas” on Pinterest, I also saw a blog about how to make a blanket ladder. My first one turned out to be the wrong stain color to match our furniture so I listed it on Facebook Marketplace for $20. I had an inquiry within an hour and a woman picking it up 30 minutes after that. When she saw it, she asked what was wrong with it that it was listed so low. When I explained it was my first one, she paid me, then said, “I appreciate the low price but I would probably pay $100 for this. I’ll be referring my friends to you and feel free to charge them that, they’ll pay it.”

My jaw dropped. Not because I felt I’d just missed out on $80 but because of how flattered I was that she liked what I had made.

I soon came up with new designs for several different ladder styles, took staged photos of them around our home, made templates for them, and listed them online. By the second year of making them, I’d doubled the price the woman originally suggested and had an incoming revenue of about $40,000.

Personal life things happened and I had to put my business on hold but, when my son started school and I found myself with more time again, I realized I wanted to do more than just grow a creative business of my own, I wanted to help other talented female artists and makers sell their work and create an income for themselves as well.

I founded a curated online marketplace for experienced female artists to sell their work and it made me realize that artists didn’t necessarily need another marketplace, they needed the confidence and the knowledge to market their own businesses even more. It was then that I started the Artisan Coaching Studio and working One-On-One with artists to help them make art, make (more) money, and still make memories with their families by selling their work online in effective ways.

Motivation comes from within — and I’m here to help you activate it.
